Impacts Of COVID-19 Pandemic On Pakistan And Mitigation Measures

 Introduction

The COVID-19 widespread occurrence of disease in Pakistan is part of the coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus was assured to have  came to Pakistan on february26,2020 when two cases were seen first ( a student from Karachi who had returned from Iran and another person in the Islamabad territory. On March, 18 cases had been seen  in all four provinces  of Pakistan,two autonomous territories and Islamabad capital territory and by june 17 each district in Pakistan had reported at least one confirmed case of COVID -19.As of January 2022Pakistan has the follow 32 winhg statistics related to covid 19. corona virus cases:1300959,deaths:29134,recovered 1288562

  • Impacts of COVID 19 on Pakistan:
Pakistan's already fragile economy had  only just been moving towards stability when the health crisis sruck.Expoerts fear that pandemics economic fallout will considerably derail the country's economic recovery process.It has been reported that pakistan has lost one third of its  earning or profit and exports dropped by 50% due to covid 19 spread and lockdown lead by the spread of this disease.
"over 83% of Pakistani  companies and organizations were not prepared for this disease and were not faced such a situation before." It will affect by three ways .First it will affect the increase demand,owing to the measures taken to control the spread of the virus.Already witnessing a slowdown in economy,the situation will deteriorate giving the blocking or obstructing unemployment (rise to 8.1% with 12 million to 18.53 million expected layoff.These termination will certainly decrease the disposable income of these household thereby sending a demand shock throughout the economy."Pakistan economy decrease by $15 billion." The socio-economic outbreak threaten reality as we know it , but they also bring significant possibilities or chances. In response companies in multiple sectors are already transforming their products, processes and business  models. While Foreign  direct investment is expected to witness a major decline in physical tourism,entertainment, retail luxury goods,aviation real estate,coal oil and gas and automotive due to social restrictions,price wars ,lockdowns and shutdowns.

With the poverty line declined by 40% over the last two decades to 24.3% in 2015 with the passage of time, the IMF projects a fast reverse process with up to 40% of Pakistanis living below their poverty line in Covid-19's viral wake. Real Gross domestic product growth slowdown   by 3%in 2020 with decrease in services and manufacturing. Agricultural sector will also be affected somehow if lockdowns continue and disrupt needed transportation,logistic support,labour and access to inputs for next planting session.That's why people are insecure.

COVID 19 has become a major economic crisis that shutdown almost all economic and social activities  which include halted domestic and international flights,public transport and railways.On the macroeconomic front,the challenges faced by Pakistan during the pandemic are contraction in aggravate demands of goods and services
